So not too long ago, I asked El3ment4l for some feedback on my 3D work, and in return he gave me some simple guidelines to follow that will generally make the 3D outcome look better.

In general, he said that pointed corners should be slightly curved, to work with thick shapes, and that the depth of the shape should be darker than the surface.

In this piece, curvature wasn't a problem due to the font I used. However:
-I created a relatively thin shape
-The depth of the shape is not very much darker (atleast not noticeably) than it's surface

From now on, I'm sticking to these guidelines. I followed them through in Boom and Boom Contrast and in my opinion, those are my best works. Also, working with a thin 3D shape is somewhat of a pain.

...now, about the piece itself. It's meant to highlight Paint.NET's biggest "selling point": it's free (contradictory, no?).
